KXLY Schedules Sunday Telecast

February 16, 1953

Spokane Daily Chronicle

KXLY-TV expects to start regular commercial telecasts Sunday at 3 p.m., Edward Craney, general manager, said today.

“Present plans call for telecasts from 3 p.m. until midnight on Sundays and from 4 p.m. to midnight on weekdays,” he said. “Columbia Broadcasting and DuMont network shows and local shows will be offered.”

Originally scheduled to start telecasts over TV Channel 4 by last Christmas, KXLY-TV was delayed because of adverse weather conditions at Mount Spokane, where the station’s tower and transmitter have been installed.

Craney said all equipment now is in order and approval has been received by the Federal Communications Commission to proceed with commercial programs.
