Former KHQ co-anchor Haynes to head Fox News

Here’s the anchor team for KAYU-28’s new “Fox 28 First at Ten News”: Dana Haynes and Greg McKinney.

Plenty of viewers already know Haynes from her work at at KHQ-6. She was co-anchor of KHQ’s 4:30 p.m. news for three years before the show’s demise this fall. She has been with KHQ for eight years and has plenty of reporting awards on her shelf.

McKinney is new to the Spokane market. He was most recently a reporter and anchor for Cincinnati’s Fox 10 p.m. news. Before that, he was the morning anchor for seven years at Cincinnati’s NBC affiliate, WLWT-TV.

McKinney will be arriving with his wife and three children.

Both Haynes and McKinney will be KHQ employees, not Fox employees. KHQ will be producing Fox’s 10 p.m. news as part of an agreement reached in January. The broadcast will be produced at KHQ studios with KHQ newspeople and aired on Fox.

KAYU general manager Jon Rand termed it a “news marriage.”

This will be the final week on the air for anchor Linda Stratton and the rest of the Fox news team. The new, KHQ-produced broadcast begins March 15.
