They’re Penny-less

What will KHQ-6 do during the important November sweeps period now that co-anchor Penny Daniels is gone?

They’re not sure yet.

“We’re trying to figure that out this week,” said news director Patricia McRae. “We just don’t know yet.”

Co-anchor Randy Shaw was on vacation last week, which left the station without either main anchor.

“We didn’t expect Penny to be leaving,” said McRae.

Dan Kleckner and Stephanie Vigil, who normally anchor the 4:30 p.m. newscast, handled all of the evening newscasts in their place.

We still don’t know exactly why Daniels left. She was out of town last week and unavailable for comment.

Lon Lee, the KHQ-6 general manager, said that the audience for the station’s evening newscasts “grew dramatically” while she was there, and that “we will miss Penny and the successful contribution she has made to KHQ.”
