Doug Caldwell, news director at KXLY-TV, resigned his position Thursday, said station manager Steve Herling.

Herling declined to give the reasons for Caldwell’s resignation, which was effective immediately.

“I don’t discuss personnel matters,” the manager said.

Herling said meetings were being held with news managers to “continue the operations and make plans for the future.”

He said he did not know how long it would take to fill Caldwell’s position.

Caldwell came to KXLY as news director in August last year from KRIS-TV in Corpus Christi, Texas, where he also served as news director.

He had worked previously at three other television stations and spent seven years with the Associated Press in Michigan, Washington, D.C., and Ohio.
