September 30, 1982

Spokane Chronicle

Wayne F. McNulty, former manager of KXLY-TV and Radio here for 20 years, has filed a damage suit because of his alleged firing because of age discrimination.

McNulty and his wife, Irene, who worked with him 19 years as an executive secretary, have filed the suit in U.S. District Court here against Elizabeth Schirmer, Spokane Television Inc., Spokane Radio Inc., Apple Valley Broadcasting Co., and the Evening Telegram Co.

McNulty, 56, is asking for a federal jury trial to decide on damages he is seeking for alleged negligent infliction of emotional distress. He also is seeking an accounting of benefits due him.

The suit says McNulty was vice president and general manager of the KXLY operations here from 1962 until he was fired, April 16, 1982 and that from 1970 to 1982 he was also vice president and general manager of KAPP in Yakima and KVEW in Kennewick. He claims he was fired from the latter dual post on May 13 of this year.
