Independent TV station opens office
An office for KAYU-TV, Spokane’s first independent commercial station, has been opened in the Fifth and Browne Medical Building.
Ground will be broken in the next 45 days for the station’s permanent office building at Regal and the Palouse Highway, said Robert Hamacher, the station’s general manager.
Hamacher, also general sales manager of KSTW-TV (Seattle-Tacoma), said he is presently spending Mondays through Thursdays in Spokane, doing the work necessary to get the new station on the air “during the fourth quarter of this year.”
Work on the TV station’s transmission tower on Tower (Krell) Mountain will be done in late August or early September, he said.
