January 2, 1975

Spokane Daily Chronicle

KSPS-TV, Spokane’s public television station, has gone off the air temporarily for installation of a new transmitter, General Manager Walter J. Schaar said today.

Removal of the former 205,000-watt transmitter has begun, he said, and a new 315,000-watt transmitter is expected to be in use no later than Jan. 13.

Purchase of the new $326,000 transmitter was a cooperative venture of the federal Department of Health, Education and Welfare, Spokane School District 81 and the Friends of Seven, he said.
