KXLY-TV “Pattern” Showing Premature
Spokane Daily Chronicle
KXLY-TV ran an unscheduled test pattern–its first—early yesterday morning, W. Norman Hawkins, the station’s television manager, said today.
It was all more or less an accident, he said.
“Some of the boys up on the mountain (Mount Spokane where the station’s tower and transmitter are located) put together some homemade parts to see if they could put out a pattern” he explained. And they found out they could, he added.
Essential parts to permit the telecasting of regular test patterns still haven’t been received; they’re expected about the middle of next week, Hawkins said.
Weather conditions at the tower site have delayed the start of telecasting KXLY-TV.
