Weather Delays TV Tower Work

December 22, 1952

Spokane Daily Chronicle

A combination of wind, rain, snow and fog halted work on the KXLY-TV tower and transmitter on Mount Spokane over the weekend, Edward Craney, general manager said today.

“A new crew went into the mountain today to continue the work, and I understand weather conditions have improved,” Craney said. “The installation is practically complete, but the weather has delayed what remains of the exterior work.”

Weeks ago Craney said the station hoped to be on the air by Christmas Eve.

“We’re still trying to meet that schedule,” he said today.
