The Spokesman-Review

Yesterday the Federal Communications Commission at Washington, D.C. authorized KXLY-TV here to locate its transmitter atop nearby Mount Spokane.

Construction of the $300,000 station began October 13 at Mount Spokane, according to Edward Craney, general manager. KXLY has a Channel 4 operating permit, and is the Columbia Broadcasting System outlet in Spokane.

The Associated Press at Washington said KXLY proposed a transmitter site on Moran Prairie when it originally filed its permit application. The KXLY antenna height at the mountain location would be 3070 feet, the AP said.
