Permit Sought for TV Station

June 6, 1952

Spokane Daily Chronicle

An application for a permit to build a television station in Spokane has been filed with the Federal Communications Commission by Louis Wasmer, veteran Spokane radio man.

He noted that the commission probably would not act on the application for months. If a permit is granted, he added, it probably would be late 1953 before the station would be in operation.

Wasmer said the tower for the proposed station, to be operated on Channel 2, would be built on Moran Prairie. The station’s antenna would be established atop a supporting tower at least 712 feet high, he said.

Equipment costs would be more than $425,000, he estimated.
