December 23, 1932

Spokane Daily Chronicle

Completion of one of the most powerful television transmitters in the United States was announced today in Los Angeles by Harry R. Lubcke, director of the Don Lee Broadcasting System. Placement of the station in service will tie in KFPY and other stations served by the Don Lee system, it was stated here.

The date for practical use of the television programs is indefinite, but the Los Angeles station is expected to start broadcasts shortly after the first of the year.

A staff of engineers, working under the direction of Lubcke, will aid in experiments on the west coast, an Associated Press dispatch from the California city stated. The television receiving equipment, already installed at several points along the Don Lee chain, will be added to KFPY as soon as practical.
